About Marianne Virgili!
Marianne Virgili has served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association for over 25 years. As the CEO, Marianne Virgili has led this organization into prominence and earned it numerous accolades and recognition as a successful business in the state of Colorado. Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association has been honored three times as one of the top three small- to medium-sized chambers in the country and has won the ACE Award of Excellence twice for maintaining one of the top chamber web sites in the nation. As President and CEO of Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association, Marianne Virgili holds responsibility for editing and publishing the award-winning Official Insider’s Guide to Glenwood Springs, managing an office staff of eight, and facilitating program development and budget operations. Virgili also runs the Visitor Information Center and serves as the Film Commissioner of the Glenwood Springs Film Commission. Marianne Virgili’s dedication and hard work is evidenced by the numerous accolades she has received throughout her career. Marianne Virgili received the 2008 ACE Award of Excellence for Special Publications and has earned 16 ACE awards from the American Chamber of Commerce Executives for chamber publications and communications. Marianne Virgili also won the North American Travel Journalists Association’s best publication-writing award for the Official Insider’s Guide to Glenwood Springs. Governor Roy Romer honored Marianne Virgili with the Outstanding Colorado Youth Philanthropy Award, and President Bill Clinton bestowed the Daily Point of Light Award on Virgili. Marianne Virgili graduated Cum Laude from Kent State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Public Relations and a minor in Sociology. While a student, Marianne Virgili excelled in her academics and participated in a variety of extracurricular activities. Virgili was the Vice President of the Cardinal Key Women’s Scholastic and Leadership Honorary and a member of the Pi Gamma Mu and Alpha Lambda Delta scholastic honor societies. In addition, Marianne Virgili was named an Outstanding Senior Woman Graduate and one of Kent State’s Junior Women of the Year. Moreover, Marianne Virgili acted as President of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority and received its leadership award. Marianne Virgili was named the 2009-2010 Ford Fellow by the Ford Foundation Fellowship for Regional Sustainable Development in recognition of her role as an influential leader in the movement to benefit regional economic growth. http://amplify.com/u/408n
